Cryptography is the science of hiding information. From Unix passwords, to secure http, iris authentication to encrypted file systems, as computer users, we deal with cryptographic systems continously. In this course, we will deal with cryptography from a theoretical perspective. Starting from the Ceasar's cipher, we will understand the mathematical structures underlying the cryptograhic systems. Understanding the foundations will enable us design and implement such and evaluate the security of such systems.

Primary textbook : Cryptography Theory and Practice, Second Edition, Douglas R. Stinson.

Supplementary reading : The Code Book, Simon Singh, Fourth Estate, 1999. (Bu kitabin Turkce cevirisi de var -- Kod Kitabi).
