Course Description
In todays world, data are one of the most important
and critical type of organizational assets. Database management is central
to the information technology strategies and information resource manage-
ment efforts within an organizaiton. This course provides the student with
up-to-date knowledge and skills of analysis, design, and implementation of
databases by covering theoretical and practical aspects of database concepts,
technologies and systems. Course content includes introduction to databases,
entity-relationship model, relational data model, SQL data denition and
manipulation language, functional dependency, normalization and transac-
tion management concepts.

Performance Evaluation
In order to pass this course, it is mandatory to submit original and accept-
able work for all the pro jects of the course. You will be graded on how well
your implementation works and how well your are able to answer the TA
questions about the program.
Average of the instructor’s marks (midterm and extra marks): 25%
Average of the TA’s marks (pro jects and quizzes): 25%
Final exam: 50%
