COMP 412 Assembler and Compiler Design

Instructor: Laszlo Nemeth

phone:(212) 311 54 34   room: D 142

Languages evolved from regular expression processing scripting tools for editors provide a powerful tool for programming for the world
The implementation of a compilers has enabled the production increasingly large computer systems. Compilers and assemblers play a crucial role and at the same time are good examples of large and complex programs that have at least in part a sound mathematical basis for the way they work. This course studies the different ways in which compilers and assemblers can be constructed and the different language models that are used.
Prerequisite: COMP 312.

There is no obligation for students to do any of projects. If you can collect enough marks from the final and the midterm to get a C grade, you can pass the course.

Midterm: 20 points
Projects: 40 ponts
Final: 40 points
