Paper Portfolio All of your paper documents such as the writing exercises I ask you to do, your self evaluation forms, your assessment scores, and anything else which is on paper should be kept in a regular portfolio type notebook with something to separate the different items. When you turn in your self evaluations you should turn in your portfolios so I can have a chance to see your progress and if you might need help in some area. If you were in prep English last year, you had a prep portfolio notebook. You can use that since it is already organized for you. Those of you who were not in prep English last year can ask someone and pick up one of the portfolio notebooks in the bookstore. It does not matter where as long as you make the materials public so we can all see them. "An electronic portfolio, also known as an e-portfolio or digital portfolio, is a collection of electronic evidence assembled and managed by a user, usually on the Web. Such electronic evidence may include inputted text, electronic files such as word processing and PDF files, images, multimedia, blog entries, and hyperlinks. E-portfolios are both demonstrations of the user's abilities and platforms for self-expression, and, if they are online, they can be maintained dynamically over time. Some e-portfolio applications permit varying degrees of audience access, so the same portfolio might be used for multiple purposes. Your e-portfolio can be seen as a type of learning record that provides actual evidence of achievement. E-portfolios can be used to manage learning by individuals, teams, communities of interest, and organizations." Usage E-portfolios enable you to show off your skills and allow your teachers and you to follow your progress and to evaluate your performance. Design considerations There are some design considerations when creating an e-portfolio. Such as:
Other considerations In order to make e-portfolios easily accessible, they should comply with web standards. Most e-portfolios use current interoperable standards such as HTML, which does not require any special programming considerations. |
